About Us

ARISE Academy is a transformational elementary charter school located in the Upper Ninth Ward of New Orleans, Louisiana. ARISE Academy arose from the aftermath of hurricane Katrina — a rekindled dedication to quality early education for all children in New Orleans.

Each day scholars in Grades Pre-K through 4th are enthusiastically working on one mission: college preparation. A collective group of dedicated educators have accepted this challenge to build a school of excellence in what has been a historically underserved location and population.

A FREE, OPEN ENROLLMENT CHARTER SCHOOL
Approved as a Type 5 charter school by the Louisiana Board of Elementary and Secondary Education (BESE), ARISE Academy has only one admission requirement: Residency in New Orleans.

GRADES
For the 2011-12 school year ARISE Academy is serving grades PreK-4th.  Each year after, ARISE Academy will grow one grade until we serve Pre-K through 8th grade scholars.

FOCUS ON COLLEGE PREPARATION
From day one, we will be focused on providing your child with a rigorous education to prepare for success in high school and college. Our objective is not to merely be proficient but to be masterful. Every second of the day at ARISE Academy is utilized to maximize learning.

FULL TIME ART PROGRAM
As part of our sensory integration strategy, scholars at ARISE visit our art studio at least 3 times a week.  Art at ARISE is not a seperate or isolated subject, but rather one the works directly with other academic programs.  By working on concepts that are covered in the regular classroom, scholars are able to see connections and the information in a different format.  

FULL TIME MUSIC PROGRAM
New Orleans has a rich music history. ARISE Academy intends to incorporate music into our childrenʼs lives on an Academy will have a full-time music program dedicated to teaching every child to play an instrument. Playing an instrument will give students a greater sense of achievement and increase self-esteem. In addition, music enhances learning, relieves stress and adds enthusiasm for school.

SAFE AND ORDERLY LEARNING ENVIRONMENT
ARISE Academy recognizes that dramatic academic achievement can only occur in schools with a no-nonsense, structured, positive, achievement-oriented, college-focused environment. At ARISE Academy, there are high expectations for both academics and behavior. We “sweat the small stuff.”
